Now I've given you a big hint. The real problem isn't your cash situation - it's how you feel about it! Therefore the solution you're looking for is a better feeling! That's great news,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because you can achieve that instantly.
Try ... thinking of the friend who makes you laugh the most ... recalling a sexy moment .... remembering a triumphant moment,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a loving moment ...
You have the power to change the way you feel - instantly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]!
My cat has wisdom we could all learn from.
Fear and negativity, both components of worry, paralyse you. They make you feel the problem is too big. They make you feel powerless and impotent. And what's more,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it keeps you poor!
The antidote to worry, therefore,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is to hold a belief that there's always a solution; things always work out.
Some instinctive wisdom she has tells her that things will sort themselves out. And they always do.

I've never seen my cat worry. When she wants something she asks - and she is more demure than Naomi Campbell on a hot night - and a whole lot more persistent. But if, for some reason, she can't get her way there and then she simply curls up and has a nap.
Author's Bio:
Let's look again. Worry is the belief that there's nothing you can do to make any effective difference. If you're short of cash, you're going to stay right there if you hold onto that belief!
I refer you once more to my cat if you're short of a role model,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Apart from the fact that worry makes you feel bad, it will not solve your money problems either.
There's enough going on in the world to keep us all fretting for a lifetime. Global warming, the credit crunch,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], obesity, terror attacks...Shall we all get together and have a big worry party?
I also refer you to "Master Success Secrets" if you require more detailed instructions! (link in bio below)
But you've just demonstrated to yourself that you are incredibly resourceful. You can change what you focus on and hence how you feel - in a moment. You can come up with twenty ideas of how to generate more money for yourself in ten minutes if you choose to believe that you're creative. Or if you have a core belief that things always work out. (I refer you to my cat for evidence),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Okay,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], let's get to the core of this. You feel bad because you've not got as much money as you'd like. Worry is itself a bad feeling, and you indulge in it because of a situation that in itself makes you feel bad!
How can it do that? How can worrying keep cash out of your bank account,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
"Worry is the belief that there's nothing you can do to make any effective difference,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]."
It doesn't solve the problem?

3. The Board is a highly politicized body.
With some exceptions (e.g., government workers, railway and airline workers) the NLRA covers unionized and non-unionized workplaces in the private and non-profit sectors with one or more employees. Thus Board rulings affect the rights of non-unionized employees and employers.
It is safe to say that relatively few employers and even fewer employees can accurately identify the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and describe its role,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Yet this five-member panel is about to transform the nature of the workplace. Here are seven things employers and employees need to know about the NLRB.
Over the years the NLRB has become an increasingly politicized body whose members' decisions reflect their political party affiliations. Rulings made by a Democrat majority typically favor unions, while those made by a Republican majority tend to favor management.
By Pat Lynch,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Ph.d.

The bottom line: you ignore NLRB rulings at your peril. While even some management attorneys acknowledge that Board decisions made recently, especially during the Bush years, went too far in favoring employers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], statements by Chair Liebman indicate her intention to push the pendulum to the other extreme. Are you prepared for the upcoming wild ride?
4. Once President Obama's three Board nominees are confirmed by the Senate, the NRLB will have a Democrat majority.
5. The NLRB regularly reverses previous Board decisions,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
6. U.S. labor law changes with each new or reversed Board decision.
The Board's rulings come in the form of decisions about unfair labor practices filed by employers or by unions. Because the rulings involve interpretations of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they do not need Congressional approval to become the law of the land. While the Board cannot change the provisions of the NLRA,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it can change how the law is interpreted and administered. Its rulings may be challenged in federal appeals court.
Because Board decisions have the effect of law, the law changes with each reversal. In addition,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a decision in one case changes the law for all covered workplaces. Unless employers realize this fact and track NLRB decisions closely, they easily and unwittingly may violate federal law.
Unlike courts of law, the Board does not treat previous decisions as precedent-setting. In fact, it reverses rulings of previous Boards with some regularity. Further,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Board decisions are not subject to the debate,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hearings, and media attention that accompany much federal legislation. NLRB decisions fly under most employers' radar.
2. Board decisions affect all covered employees, not just those who belong to unions.
Some of Board Chair Liebman's desired changes include de-emphasizing employers' rights such as free speech, establishment of work rules, and access to employees; providing enhanced rights for temporary and contingent workers; enabling supervisors to join unions; broadening the definition of "protected activity;" allowing unions electronic access to employees (e.g., via employers' e-mail systems); and requiring employers to provide more extensive financial and operational information to unions.
To learn more about the National Labor Relations Board and its rulings, visit the agency's web site at [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] For suggestions about what you can do to legally and ethically mitigate some of the anticipated changes, please see our article "Seven Tips to Prepare for the New NLRB."
1. The NRLB consists of five people whose decisions have the effect of federal law.
The new Board Chair, Wilma Liebman,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is a Democrat, as are two of the three individuals nominated by President Obama to join the Board. Ms. Liebman is on record (through her testimony before Congress as well as in her written dissents to Board rulings) as advocating significant changes that diminish current employer rights and increase unions' rights in the workplace. (See specific examples in #7 below.)
7,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. The new NLRB Chair has been very specific about what she wants the new Board to change,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].

It is easy to view these novels as works of anti-discrimination in a post civil rights society, but are they really? Do you think Mark Twain is exposing the injustice of prejudice and stereotypes, or buying into them? Injun Joe is portrayed in an extremely negative light. Even though To Kill a Mockingbird clearly advocates against racism, the novel still negatively stereotypes African Americans as helpless human beings who need to be protected by white people. Though both books are now recommended to AP US History students, they have been banned in schools for their own problematic interpretations of race. This ambiguity demonstrates that stereotypes are difficult to avoid; it requires a conscious effort not to see the world in in group-out group terms. Often as wayward adolescents we embrace stereotypes in order to make sense of the world, and it is our job as adults to break these categories down in order to reveal the truth.
Meet Tom and Scout. They are characters in this very stage and life,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and while at times they are carefree, rambunctious troublemakers, at others, they are young adults faced with a daunting world distinctly divided across racial lines. Tom Sawyer is a mischievous urchin, stealing from jam jars and tricking other boys into doing work for him. However,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], his blithe antics turn for the worst when he stumbles into a graveyard. He witnesses Injun Joe murder a man, and life is no longer a piece of jam pie.
Tom Sawyer is also a mixed bag of tricks. He is a sly rascal who even when he takes the blame for Becky,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or saves a man's life by exposing the murderer, is by no means humble, and basks in the rewards of attention and praise. This really stems from the insecurity that unavoidably comes with being an adolescent. His unstable identity suggests that he is at a stage when prejudice and stereotypes can easily take hold; while it seems he is rebelling against adults, he is paradoxically deeply influenced by their attitudes and actions. In the end, there is no clear resolution to Tom's identity crisis or the town's prejudice, just as there is no immediate cure for adolescent angst, or deeply sewn racism.
To an even larger extent, Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird is faced with the confusion of adult prejudice. Her father is defending a black man who was wrongly accused of raping a white woman. Their family becomes outcasts in a racist town, and Scout, on top of trying to deal with normal adolescent confusion, struggles with the town's hatred towards her father. When she asks him why they are ostracized, Atticus responds,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "Nigger-lover is just one of those terms that don't mean anything – like snot-nose. It's hard to explain – ignorant, trashy people use it when they think somebody's favoring Negroes over and above themselves. It's slipped into usage with some people like ourselves,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], when they want a common, ugly term to label somebody." This To Kill a Mockingbird quote explicates that racism is much like adolescent bullying and name-calling; kids are by definition ignorant, and therefore often come in conflict with one another out of identity confusion. Atticus is therefore in a sense saying these adults have never grown up; their insecurity and ignorance perpetuates racism.
Right around the age of 10,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there is a marked shift in a child's perspective. The world is no longer simply a wonderland of curiosities, but a popularity contest. Girls begin to wear makeup and form cliques,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and boys become showmen, proving themselves with their fists. Think of Mean Girls or The Outsiders. In Lacan's terms, once we identify ourselves as "other" in the mirror stage,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the beasts of jealousy and self-consciousness arise. This is a time in psychological terms in which children,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], going through their first major identity crisis, often begin to designate others into two categories: the ingroup and the outgroup.

Although Mark Twain's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer does not directly address issues of race, as does his epic masterpiece, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the character of Injun Joe depicts racial stereotypes in a more subtle way. Let's not ignore the fact that Joe is a cruel murderer. Who hasn't had nightmares of the giant killer hunting down Tom and Becky in the cave? However,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he represents a term that will most likely appear on the AP Psychology Exam: the self-fulfilling prophecy. He is treated like a savage by the rest of the town, and not accepted into the community because of his Native American roots. When a person is relentlessly treated in a certain way, it is difficult not to live up to this characterization. Individuals view those in the ingroup as more or less diverse, whereas they view those in the outgroup as a single stereotype. Joe is a victim of the latter. More than that, Joe's indiscretions are acts of revenge; while on the surface,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he may seem like a one-dimensional character, whose terrible acts simply stem from greed, his motives are much more complex. Colonists horrifically displaced Native Americans from their land, and he is in part avenging the wrongs that they have suffered.

5. Behind all these things of course is basic trust in life and in the new leadership paradigm. Unfortunately this is typically a catch-22 situation in which results have to precede the willingness to trust enough to get those results. But what you can take to the bank is that the happiest and most successful people are the ones who trust most, let go easiest, and take the most chances because of the abundant, win-win hope they have in their minds and hearts to reach a better place. They have already plowed through the chaos to recognize the land of simple just on the other side of complexity. They are the ‘hope brokers’ Napoleon Bonaparte was referring to.
Many experiments have been going on with collaborative leadership in all types of organizations from non-profits to churches to government organizations to for-profit businesses. There are management teams, strategic visioning committees, round tables,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and peer boards of directors just to mention a few. The point behind all these responses to the current unmanageable overload is that today, no one person can possibly know all there is to know, especially about where we are going and how we can best get there. The present has never been more complex and the future more uncertain for us as it is today,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], needing "hope brokers" that live their beliefs more than talk about them.
3. Nothing much happens until some difficult,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], up-front and very personal campfire conversations occur, where there is good listening, empathy and acceptance, without control, self-centeredness or judgment. This is far from the way leaders are generally accustomed to communicating. And it almost has to be spontaneous to be accepted by all. The conversations have to challenge sacred assumptions and explore vulnerabilities; and peeling away the emotional layers of the onion to get to fundamental cognitive consensus can be tedious and nerve-wrecking, requiring more than the usual amount of empathy and patience.
I think it may have started with the Princeton mathematics genius, John Nash’s discovery of the common win-lose, scarcity mentality making up the uncooperative economic game theory of competition in the marketplace. You can play the game at: This novel idea was then carried to the masses further by Stephen Covey and other positive psychologists as the desired transformation to a win-win, abundance mentality in his popular “Seven Habits” book.
This notion of collaboration is certainly not new, as it was behind the present team building philosophy, religious conflict resolution strategies,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and progressive educational approaches we see so prevalent today. But then again we tend to cautiously baby-step before we close our eyes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hold our breath and jump in with all fours to embrace seeing and joining truth. I suppose most of that caution has with our thinking minds not completely trusting that it is the truth of collaboration that is trying to be seen, past our individual efforts to think near it.
And this points towards the need for mutual collaboration of creative thinking, as opposed to traditional rational leadership and management models of the boss telling the “what” and “how” of following his or her vision with detailed game plans. Today visions are more difficult to communicate clearly or get consensually accepted and followed. This is because of the volume of information we are trying to deal with and the diversity of values and thinking styles that make up the present worforce.
And so the opening question is when have we needed hope more than today, if it is just help to be more optimistic in seeing past the ornery information overload that is burying us all? Everything I have read and experienced during the last two decades seems to be hinting at the need to question and transform a basic paradigm we are super-glued to as to how we should be viewing and practicing leadership and management.
Collaborative leadership is a major transformational change that is quickly evolving in the Information Age as the only solution of choice. Smart leaders will find out how to make it work in their organizations through good communication and effective use of interpersonal intelligence, in recognizing and removing the barriers to success. And that effort might just start with redefining this “success” thing in clearer and simpler terms, taking it from scarcity to abundance, from the few to the many.
2,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. The strong power brokers in the organizations have to see how their egos and cutting edge knowledge keep both themselves and the organization from going from limited surviving to unlimited thriving. This is also something that doesn’t occur overnight. An ego built upon great success and knowledge is a hard thing to give up because it is a titanium security blanket. There is simply no room for superior and over-controlling know-it-alls in collaborative leadership. It has to be a truly equal journey to work correctly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Author's Bio:&nbsp,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych];
4. The real key to opening up to a win-win, abundance mentality that sets the stage for all these other things to occur, is the identification of the most important common ground which the group can agree upon and feel comfortable letting go to and trusting that this is the right starting point. This can often be a very simple, but profound and powerful mission or vision statement. This is what spells out the basic thing everyone is wanting to do and get from their doing. But it has to be the right thing for the right reason. Again though,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this has to be a neutral idea that no one person in the group owns or puts forward from personal preferences. Fortunately we have a way to see the truth when it surfaces from such peak communication, without personal ownership. It just happens and you know it when you have it.
Making the transition from the traditional leadership paradigm to one of collaboration can be a painfully slow process. Certain things have to happen within an organization to facilitate the emergence and acceptance of the collaborative leadership paradigm. These transition stages are:
So, what does the shift from the win-lose, scarcity mentality to a win-win, abudnance one require of leaders and managers of organizations today? The volume and complexity of the current information overload seems to be taking us to unfamiliar territory without a map. The common mantra is “what got us here won’t get us there.” For once in our modern history, the problems are more complex and interconnected than our smart rational thinking can penetrate. Some management gurus say we are at the end of our management knowledge.

1. The organization has to become uncomfortable enough to want to do something about some seemingly irresolvable conflicts that can no longer be overlooked, suppressed or denied. This discomfort can show up in many forms from pervasive negative emotionality to business failure and can be very painful and slow. Most of the time people don’t change until they are forced to and some times it is too late. And sometimes when conflict and turmoil exist in an organization,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], everybody sees a different cause and solution and then not reaching common agreement about a starting point just adds to the conflict, making it worse and harder to see through.

In short, becoming a competent speaker will boost your profits, the dear old bottom line. And what’s the marketing game is all about!
Practice,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], practice, practice. Find a test audience and keep working your message as you develop your unique personal style. Better still, find a test audience whose sole goal is to help you become a great speaker by drawing out and nurturing the skills you already have deep within you.

Overcoming your fear of public speaking will revolutionize your marketing and opportunity presentations, even if you never give a speech in the traditional sense. I’ve noticed that my day-to-day conversations have improved dramatically since joining Toastmasters and I’m certain the same can happen for you. Why is this such a good idea for your home-based business? Confident speakers radiate positive energy that uplifts everyone around them. You’ll find yourself interacting more effectively with your customers, enrollees, upline, downline, and others. You’ll network with many people,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], some of whom will do business with you or even enroll in your home-based business opportunity. You’ll develop powerful speeches that will have audience members scrambling for their wallets.
Everyone is an expert in something. What is your expertise? If you own a home-based business then I hope you’re either an expert or on your way to becoming an expert at your company, products and services,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and opportunity. Finding your expertise helps you fill a specialized niche and greatly reduce competition.
Author's Bio:&nbsp,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych];
You can find it right in your home town.
It is said that the fear of public speaking outweighs the fear of death. Seems some people would rather be the one in the box than the one giving the eulogy. I happen to believe just the opposite and I hope you do too because public speaking can be one of your most enjoyable and profitable ways to market your home-based business.
Where to give your talks? The list is virtually endless. Here are a few ideas tailored to novice speakers: Chambers of Commerce, Elks, Lions,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Rotary, Kiwanis, your business, professional organizations, charity events,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], church events,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], schools, community centers, convention rooms./centers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], public-access TV, local radio, open mike nights- the list is virtually endless. Which audiences would be most receptive to your talk, and where do they congregate? Nanocasting (the opposite of broadcasting) works very well here by preventing you from wasting time on audiences who just aren’t interested in your particular topic.
New to speaking? It’s perfectly OK to use notes. Many speakers at all levels use notes to keep them on track. Not sure what to do with your hands or how to work the stage? Request a lectern or podium. Do you find yourself using words like “and”, “um”, “so”, or others as filler while you search for words? Here’s a quick hint: When you feel your words outpacing your thoughts, pause for a few seconds,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then continue. This pause helps your last point sink into the audience as you gather your thoughts. It also prevents you from inserting those extra words that brand you an amateur.
OK, so I’ve given you a few extremely simple pointers. You’re raring to go but your fears are holding you back. What can you do? Whatever works. I believe that my nervousness rises in direct proportion to the importance I place on my words. Nervousness is pent-up energy that you can channel anywhere, such as toward giving a strong, heartfelt presentation. I’ve given my fair share and am still nervous every time.
Where can you find such an organization,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
The road to expertise is paved with credibility. Public speaking is a great way to build credibility. At worst, it costs you nothing. At best, your speaking fees can provide some nice pocket lining.
Remember that your goal is to build relationships by giving value, not to wheedle money. Make your speech about your audience, never about you. For example,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I am rarely if ever the main focus of my articles or talks, except when I describe certain personal experiences or opinions that relate to the topic at hand.
A solid speech that is both well crafted and well delivered will work miracles. A weak speech that is poorly crafted and/or delivered won’t earn you the respect you seek. How does one create a great speech? Easy! Begin with your conclusion. It should be powerful, succinct, and to the point. It should leave your audience thinking “A-ha!” and feeling motivated to take action. Next, what three points best support your desired conclusion and what order should you present them in? Finally, your introduction is the hook that catches people’s attention and makes them sit up and pay attention.
I cannot recommend Toastmasters strongly enough. It’s like riding a bicycle where you can fall off as many times as it takes to master the art with nary a scraped knee. Go to [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] , find a club in your area, and stop in for a visit. You’ll meet some great people,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hear some awesome speeches, and get the chance to add your voice to the human chorus.

Before you draft an email,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], letter or make a phone call,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], organize your thoughts. You may want to do this on paper or rehearse it out loud,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but have an idea of what you are going to say and what you need from the recipient of your communication. If you are leading a meeting, ALWAYS have an agenda. If you are presenting,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], rehearse. Others will be appreciative,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], look at the time and confusion you save us all.
Check comprehension levels
You cannot control others, but you can try to help them improve their skills. If the chaotic communicator is open to feedback, talk to them about their communication style privately. Give specific examples where you see an opportunity for improvement. Give them specific examples of techniques to use for improvement.
How do you know this,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], are you supposed to read minds? No, just ask. When someone joins your team, find out whether they prefer emails or phone calls or in-person discussions. Whenever possible try to accommodate their preference. Reconfirm preferences with individuals. It may be that their preferences have changed or perhaps they like your emails better than your voice mails.
What if I am the victim of a chaotic communicator,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
Remember,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], effective communication takes practice and planning.
We have so many different ways to communicate with one another. We can pick up the phone and call using either a land line or a cell phone,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]; we can send an email or a text using our computers or our various handheld devices and we can ‘tweet’ and ‘friend’ and make all kinds of connections AND we can still send a written note on an actual piece of paper. Does having all of these options make communications easier,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]? Not necessarily. Sometimes we still experience communication chaos.
Have a specific desired result in mind
If they are not open to feedback, then draw upon your skills to manage the situation. If they tell long rambling stories, tactfully interrupt and ask clarifying questions. Repeat back to them what you think they are saying. If they facilitate meetings without agendas, ask in advance (or at the very least at the start of the meeting) for the meeting objectives and how you can participate. Feel free to help control a runaway meeting.
Communication chaos can be avoided through the use of effective communication. Effective communication is organized communication. Think about an individual you know who consistently gets their point across. Chances are they are not just lucky. They have learned to communicate strategically. Read on to see how you can be more effective too,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].

When you are in the midst of a conversation, presentation or meeting, include comments or questions that help you assess how well your message is being comprehended. In a conversation take time to restate what you understand, ask questions or ask others to summarize their understanding of the conversation. “In all honesty,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I don’t have a clue,” was her spontaneous response. He quickly quipped,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], “we are all trying to find our mental sweet spot—the place where we need to be to take advantage of knowing a little to fix a lot, especially by making progress in improving seven important reality repair skills.”
By William S. Cottringer, Ph.D.

6. Setting and keeping priorities get to be a real problem,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because it often takes a serious tragedy to let you know what really matters most and what doesn’t. You talk about wasting time? Be honest and tell me how much of your life has been wasted on the wrong priorities. Keep that to yourself!
Harry started with, “First of all, people want overly simple solutions and quick fixes to complicated problems and that is not the way it works.” Of course Sally couldn’t resist,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], “Well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then how does it work Harry?” “You have to look for solid principles, or the way things work in a variety of different situations, to simplify problems,” he said. Being practical, Sally had to ask, “Can you give me an example?”
3. Something we often fail to see is that what we are seeing depends upon where we are doing the looking, or the perspective we have. And if we don’t like what we see, it is a simple matter of moving to a different viewpoint or place to look from. Believe me that saves a ton of time not trying to convince yourself that what you see is really true when you know darn well it isn’t.
4. I used to be a teacher and I can tell you one thing for sure—It was my passion for psychology and how it could be used to make life better for people that made me into a great teacher, not all the time I wasted in accumulating my knowledge of the subject matter or learning how well I could teach it. Life wouldn’t really matter to me without my passion.
Sitting in two overgrown cedar rocking chairs watching the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River go flowing by in quiet North Bend, WA,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], two people—one intellectual and the other very practical—were just talking about troublesome life situations in a casual manner. One said to the other, “Do you think we make things more complicated than they need to be?” The other replied, “It depends on how much the people know and how close they are to one another.”
Harry scratched his head but was up to the challenge,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because this is what he did best—explain the complexity of things until they became so simple they couldn’t be misunderstood.” “Here’s a real live example,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], “You obviously want to hear the main ways people get derailed in life to see if you have mastered the solutions yourself, so here they are for your verification:
7. Finally we get to the last problem—problem-solving. Life seems to be one continuous series of problems to be solved. How much time do y0u think we waste not solving the problems before us? And really all you have to do to be successful in this area is to keep flexible and look and listen to the solutions that are already there, far outnumbering the problems!
“I am not really sure what that means,” she replied. “Well,” he began, “It is really hard to talk about simplicity in a simple manner without complicating it. Just about the time you think you have it covered, you think of some other important detail and you are not sure how much more detail you need to go into explaining the additional detail.” “Hmmm,” She said without the expected puzzlement, “For some strange reason I think I know what you mean. Fortunately she had read Oliver Wendell Holmes famous quote, “I wouldn’t give a fig for simplicity on this side of complexity, but for simplicity on the far side of complexity I would give my right arm.”
Immediately sensing the apparent understanding,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the intellectual stated in a rather informative way, “I think we all make things more complicated by falling prey to seven simple mistakes in something we are all trying to do and then make more mistakes trying to undo these mistakes, even in applying the solutions. Let me ask you a question, he resumed, What do you think any reasonably successful and content athletes, politicians, parents,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], factory workers, teacher, soldiers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], students,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], artists or retirees have in common?”
Harry always had practical examples, but he could never figure out how to break down his metaphorical insights into something people could see, feel, and smell. But he went ahead and blurted out, “Whenever I want to know what to do, I just think of the easiest thing I can do that will get the best results and the least side effects.” Sally knew this principle in her head but wanted a little more concrete example which she assertively asked for. “Give me a real live example, Harry—one that I can see and touch with my hands.”
5. Now I apologize here but I have to use an odd word—polarizations. I think mirrors and language lead us to believe we could divide life into “me” and everything else. We can easily get caught up with very unproductive thinking that convinces us something is either good or bad, right or wrong, or beneficial or harmful. The only thing I can say is that cuts our chances for happiness and success in half and that may result in a half-wasted life. Sad but true.
2. We often don’t take the time to question the why or purpose of what we are trying to do, especially with our whole life. A lot of the time we just wander (and wonder) around aimlessly. That can waste a lot more time and then when we figure it out we have to figure out how to communicate it, which takes a lot more time.
Author's Bio:
“These are all practical principles that help simplify problems in life and I can’t be any more practical or simple than that,” concluded Harry. Sally certainly agreed.
Finding Your Mental Sweet Spot
by Bill Cottrigner
“The practical one wanted to know what these things were so she could decide if they were in fact simple and practical. Actually she secretly wanted to know if these were common problems that she had already figured solutions around, through, over or under. So she impulsively asked, “Okay let’s have them.”
1. People don’t spend enough time learning important principles like communicating simply and clearly like we are doing right now. Principles are not easy to find because they have to be experienced firsthand. Looking in the wrong places wastes a lot of time and causes too much confusion. Probably nature demonstrates most of the principles you will ever need to know.

2) Prioritize your Perfectionism,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
your mind’s desire to make something perfect. This takes a bit of practice.
3) Break it Down
The good news is, I’ve learned a lot about perfectionism. I’ve come up with a few tactics to deal with it so that we can enjoy freedom from pain, less stress, and more creative flow. I’ll explain one tactic today,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and then I’d love to hear your feedback on how it works for you.
Once you’re aware of perfectionism in this moment, you can employ step two. Since real perfection does not exist, you get to decide how perfectly you actually want to do whatever you’re doing right now. First, remind yourself that real perfection is impossible. (Even if your mind disagrees with this, it helps to say it to yourself.) Second, decide if this is a moment where you’d really like to give it your all, or if this is a moment where you could get by with anywhere between 40-60% effort. (Or less!) It is important to prioritize your perfectionism. Not everything really needs every ounce of your effort and your very best skills. Save the big guns for when you really need them, or when you’ll enjoy tweaking and playing with something until it’s perfect – in your opinion,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], of course. Saving your energy for when it’s really needed allows you to be far more productive.
1) Recognize and Observe…
Break your project into two parts. For the first part, decide that you are going to use 80% of your skills/talents/effort. The first part may be broken down into smaller parts, too, such as drafts or separate pieces of your project. However you do it, only use 80% of your abilities,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and shoot for 80% perfection.
By allowing yourself that final piece of perfectionism,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you can relax while you’re doing your 80% work. This is an important element, because shooting for 150% is practically guaranteed to create stress, stop your creative flow, and stop you in your tracks. 80%, on the other hand, gets it done. However, I’ve worked with enough clients to know that sometimes it’s terrifying to shoot for 80% after a lifetime of trying to nail 150%. This is why you can give yourself the leeway of the two-step plan.
First, it’s important to recognize that perfectionism helps just as much as it hinders. Like everything, it’s all about balance. Too much perfectionism, or using it on everything in your life, creates blocked creativity, inability to move forward, and piles of stress. No perfectionism, however, creates slipshod work, missed details, and frustration.
Of course, it is important to remember that things actually can’t be done perfectly. It’s just the innate human experience – there will be little flaws. Your version of perfect is someone else’s version of flawed, and vice-versa. It’s a very subjective thing, perfection.
The Three Steps to Calm Your Inner Perfectionist
Since that moment, I have been exploring perfectionism, both to release self-pressure and to help my clients with the same issue. I knew it would benefit me to learn how to slack off, but I couldn’t quite release my perfectionism. It’s very well ingrained in myself and my clients. What can we do about this? How can we deal with this trait without perfectionism itself popping in and saying we need to handle perfectionism perfectly? See the challenge here?

For the second part of your project, you can allow yourself to go back and tweak, if you think it’s necessary. This is where you can employ the beneficial side of your perfectionism skills. For this last part of your project, you get to look through it and decide if you’d like to shoot for 95% anywhere. Look to see if you want to add to it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], edit it, change it, or improve it. However, before you actually make these changes, really do the assessment piece. Can you get by with your 80% work? Does it get the job done? Are you spending more time on this project than you’d like, which means maybe 80% is going to have to do? Get external feedback, if you want. Do others think it’s great, and can’t see why you’d change it? This will help you find that sweet spot between not enough and over the top as far as effort and time spent goes.
The more you simply observe yourself, the more you will learn. You’ll begin to see patterns – areas in your life where you do put a lot of pressure on yourself to do it perfectly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or specific repeated perfection patterns. Don’t underestimate the power of simple observation. It’s not necessary to observe perfectly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], of course. Simply do it as much or as little as you want. You can write your observations down in a notebook, if that helps.
When I first read Dr. John Sarno’s book, The Mindbody Prescription, I recognized myself in his personality traits list – the list that describes those of us who have a tendency toward mind-body pain syndromes (or what he calls TMS). It immediately made sense to me that perfectionism only increases my internal stress. With all that self-pressure, it’s not a big leap to make from loads of stress to physical tension to pain.
So, to recap,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it’s 1) Observe 2) Decide whether or not you need your perfectionism skills in this moment 3) Break your project down into two parts – 80% and then the final check.
You only need step three if you’ve decided to go ahead and give it your all. This is a really useful way to relax your perfectionism, which will actually allow you to do your best work without getting stymied by the desire to do it perfectly.
This plan will help you to create balance. You’re not trying to eradicate your perfectionism. Instead, you are trying to allow it to help you when it can and calm it down when it can’t. In the end, you’ll find much stress relief as you prioritize your perfectionism instead of working really hard and using tons of mental energy on every single thing you do.
Just about once or twice a day, my tendency toward perfectionism rears its head. It’s a trait I’ve had from birth,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], according to my mother. I’ve become well-acquainted both with its usefulness and how it often gets in my way.
Notice when you feel stressed throughout the day. Each time to notice stress show up or increase, ask yourself the question: Am I trying to do something perfectly? Really look closely. Peek into the corners of your mind. Your mind might say, “Oh,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], no, I’m not trying to do it perfectly. I just want to get it right.” Er… That’s just a sneaky version of perfectionism. I often notice I like to increase my stress by trying to do things both perfectly and in a rush. Gack!

Visualize driving down Interstate 95 at 60 miles per hour and turning your steering wheel 1/96th to the left. Will you crash immediately and die? No. But eventually you will hit the guardrail, roll over and end your life.
